1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NIV): "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and the to the Twelve."
Are You Looking for God in all the wrong places and in all the wrong faces?
There are many today traveling to the ends of the earth to find salvation and eternal life. They are reading every book, researching every religion, trying every method, and giving their lives for a cause. Others are trying to find God on a wafer or a piece of bread, or in some other kind of appearance. However, they still have not found what they are looking for. Mankind is desperate for peace in his heart, and searching for genuine love and the meaning for life; and it is only found in one place(1 John 5:11-12).
- There is only one way to God and it is through Jesus Christ. If you are looking for God through many doors, gates and paths, you will not find Him (Matthew 7:13-14, Acts 4:12).
- Jesus said that He is the only way to the Father in Heaven. John 14:6: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” Jesus is the only mediator between God and Men(1 Timothy 2:5-6).
What separates us from God?
- It is sin that separates us from God: Isaiah 59:1-2:“Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ears too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”
Who has sinned?
- The Bible tells us that every one of us has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory and perfection. Romans 3:23:“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”
- If we state that we have not sinned, then we are liars.1 John 1:8 : “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
What is the penalty for Sin?
- It is physical death and an eternal separation from God in the Lake of Fire. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” See also Revelation 20:11-15.
If this is true, how can we be saved?
- Can I be saved by good works? No! See Acts 26:19-20 and Ephesians 2:8-10. Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone. Good works follow repentance and help to prove our repentance.
- Can I be saved by my own righteousness or by observing the Old Testament Law? No! See Romans 3:9-20. Even those in the Old Testament were credited righteousness by their faith in God. See all of Hebrews 11.
- Believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of sin and for your salvation (John 3:16, Acts 16:31).
- Through prayer confess your sins to God and repent (turn away) from it. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that He has died on the cross for you and has risen from the dead, and you will be saved (1 John 1:9, Romans 10:9-13).
- Through prayer to God (see prayer below), personally receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (John 1:12).
- If you have done this with a genuine heart, then trust that you are saved (John 5:24). Welcome to the Family of God! If you have done this, then please send us an email and we will help you find a bible believing church that can disciple you and encourage you in your new life in Christ.
What to Pray:
Father in Heaven thank you for sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the dead. Please forgive me of my sins as I choose to surrender my life and my will into your hands. Help me to repent and live a life pleasing to you. Please send the promised Holy Spirit to live within me. Thank you Father in Jesus' Name, Amen.
